Cost vs. Price ... The indices are COST based and not PRICE based. The indices take no account of fluctuations related to changes in fee and profit included in bid prices resulting from demand characteristics of the construction market.
The Cost Models ... Cost data is presented in two formats: the MossCost Size Index and the MossCost Frame Index. Each is a composite of various building models and takes into account principle materials, labor and fuel cost components. Indices are normalized to the national average.
Size Index ... This index tracks changes in construction costs for small, mid and large construction projects, based upon gross area.
Frame Index ... This index tracks changes in construction cost for concrete, steel and composite framed construction projects, based upon primary framing material.
