About the MossCost Index
As part of our ongoing efforts to keep our estimating products as accurate as possible, Moss Construction Cost Management Inc. routinely tracks changes in various materials, labor and fuel cost markets and monitors the effect on a number of construction models. This information is available exclusively on the www.mosscost.com website.
To subscribe to our email distribution list please complete the form on this page. To inquire about reproduction and limited use licensing of this data, contact Megan Moss at 260 925 3416.
Historic cost data is no guarantee of future trends and no construction project is identical. We advise users to seek expert advice when budgeting escalation allowances and market predictions for a specific project.
Cost vs. Price
The indices are COST based and not
PRICE based. The indices take no account of fluctuations related to changes in
fee and profit included in bid prices resulting from demand characteristics of
the construction market.
The Cost Models
Cost data is presented in two
formats: the MossCost Size Index and the MossCost Frame Index. Each is a
composite of various building models and takes into account the principle
materials, labor and fuel cost components. Indices are normalized to the
national average.
This index tracks changes in construction cost for small, mid and large construction projects, based upon gross area.
For the purposes of the index, the following size standards are used:
Small Under 25,000 GSF
Mid 25,000 to 200,000 GSF
Large Over 200,000 GSF
This index tracks changes in
construction cost for Concrete, Steel and composite framed construction
projects, based upon primary framing material.
Whilst every effort has been made to ensure the validity of the data, Moss Construction Cost Management Inc. provides this information for guidance only and does not warrant the accuracy or applicability of the data to any specific project or location. No liability can be accepted for errors or omissions contained within the cost data, models or indices.
